============= The Odd One Out Game (c) 1994 Matthew Goode ============= The Odd One Out Game is a SHAREWARE game, that is it may not be copied and it must not be altered in any way. All of the coding, most of the graphics, and most of the sound FX are the creation of Matthew Goode. The female vocals are from the Techno Sound program disk. Lloyd Solly kindly created the very nice spaceships and fireball featured in Space War. Most of the fonts used are other peoples work (don't ask me who). The drum beat is sampled from my Casio keyboard and the Ren and Stimpy sample was sampled by someone else from the Ren and Stimpy show. If you have this game without paying the shareware fee then you are not very nice and you should not have this game. It's people like you this world does not need! There is not demo version of this product! Introduction ------------ The Odd One Out Game is a simple educational program aimed at the 4-6 age group. It is basically meant to be a computerised version of the Seasame Street classic (one of these things is not like the others ...). The Odd One Out Game is one part of an educational pack, the other half is Two of a Kind. The Game -------- First click on Start Game on the title screen. Doing this will take you to next screen where you enter your name. Press return when you are finished. The next screen asks you for the difficulty of the up and coming game. Type a number from 1 to 4. After this the main screen will come up. The main screen should show four pictures on the lower half of the screen and some text on the top half (One of these things is not ...) and some little bouncy blue blobby things (these are just for visual stimulation). You can move the mouse pointer over any of the four pictures. Notice the eyes on the pointer - they will occasionaly blink, again for visual stimulation. One of the pictures will be different is some major way from the others. The child has to click on this square (with the LMB) in order to progress to the next set of pictures. If the correct picture is clicked on then the Well Done screen will appear. Press the LMB to progress to the next puzzle. If an incorrect picture is clicked on the sorry screen will appear. An older person may have to read the text to child. Press the LMB to return to same puzzle. The game will not continue until the correct picture is click on. There are currently 5 different levels in the game, the first 4 levels has 4 puzzles each. The last level has only 3 puzzles. The difficulty you selected earlier tells the computer how many puzzles from each level you want. Eg. Difficulty 2 means there will be 10 puzzles in all (2x5). Once all the puzzles have been correctly answered the Congratulations screen will appear. Here the child can watch the pretty fire works as a reward for their hard work (again more visual stimulation). Then as a final reward the child can play a simple arcade game called Space War. This game is played using either a Joystick or the Keyboard (the cursor keys and the space bar). The aim is to stay alive for as long as possible. There is only one life and once the spaceship has blown up it is back to the title screen. Pressing Esc will exit the program at any time. To install the game on a hard drive just drag it's icon into your chosen drawer. Extras ------ This game was written on a 6 meg A1200. I used my Techno Sound sound sampler to record the terible SFX. Software used includes Devpac 2.14, Mega ED, Deluxe Paint IV, Techno Sound sampling software. A blank template is included on the disk so you can design you own puzzles with DPaint or other IFF compatible paint program. Send your puzzles to me and I will place them in the game (available to registered users only, a fee of NZ$5 will be charged for the service, also include a disk and a SSAE envelope please). Please write to me with any suggestions. - Matthew Goode -
